NJ Lawn

We moved into a house last summer and our two german sheperds destroyed the grass in our backyard. Or I should really say, there is no grass back there anymore. My husband and I are confused on what type of grass to plant. We have heard to use Rye, Fescue, Bermuda or Zoysia. Can someone help us? I would love to have grass again and not mud.
Thanks

probably fescue in your market- definitely not bermuda or zoysia.

Forget bermuda and zoysia. Both will grow here (in NJ) But niether has good traffic tolerance when dormant. Which is about 7-8 months of the year. If you have heavy shade I would suggest fine fescues or Mulch! But for sun to part shade Perennial Ryegrass and Kentucky Bluegrass is best for the traffic involved.
Good luck…………………..
