new sod

I had a landscaper plant new bluegrass sod in June. I have a hot spot and a shady area and was told to water hot spot for 15 min for times a day and shady area 2 times a day for 8 min. The shady side is turning brown and seems to be real wet. I lefted up the sod and it has not taken root. It pretty much looks like mud. Can it be saved or does it need to be replaced. It looks like it got to much water. Also on hot side there is a strip that is brown. is there a way to resolve this. I’ve cut back the watering days to three times a week since living in Sparks Nv I am on a water restriction. I have adjusted the sprinkler heads also. I’ve been doing this for about a week since the landscaper came out and told me to adjust the water.
