new septic tank

We recently built a house, and the lawn and dirt around the septic tank has settled, leaving a rectangle in the back yard. What would you suggest to fix it?

You can top dress with 1/3 inch of material per week and bring it back up. I like sand but a good landscape mix will work. Top soil is usually a poor soil full of weeds. Ask specifically for “landscaper’s mix.”

1/3 of an inch is 1 cubic yard per 1,000 square feet. Use a push broom to sweep the stuff off the grass blades after you have applied it.
