Hello everyone. This is my very first post and I am hoping to learn alot from you guys. I am awaiting my new home to be completed which is scheduled to be done in late november. the builder is including bermuda sod in the front yard and seeding the back yard with bermuda seed.

Now my previous grass at my old house was bermuda grass and really DID NOT care for it too much. However I am willing to embrace it with open arms and see if i can get started out on the right foot this time with this new home purchase. By the way I live in virginia.

So here are my questions. During the month of november what should I be doing to my new sod during that time of year? Should I just leave the sod alone, let it go dormant and pick things up in the spring? Should I throw some extra bermuda seed down and over seed it so it can flourish come spring time? Fertilize? As you can see im a total beginner at all of this. I just want a healthy green lawn.

Unfortunately the only experience i have with bermuda is a patchy brown and weed like lawn which was rough on barefeet. Id like to make this experience a little different. Ive already checked with my builder and they refuse to provide us with anything other than bermuda. Any advice would be great. Thanks in advance. P.S. I have also contemplated immediately rolling up the included bermuda sod and throwing down fescue. That however is the $$$$$ option. PLEASE HELP!!

I had Bermuda to get over my Septic lines. I grew like crazy. I could cut the grass and in a very few days it needed to be cut again.
