New Guy to board- Have a question on St Augustine

Hi Y’all. I just found this board and hope I will learn a lot and help a little too.
I have a question and problem with my St. Augustine grass. No matter how many times I mow, it still tries to grow and I have to mow it again. Should I try the cornmeal?
Sorry, couldn’t help it.
Glad I found you guys. How do you become Turfmaster? That is a pretty neat title.

Do you think cornmeal is really a joke?
Maybe you shouldn’t be a turfmaster…

maybe you should just shut up qwerty. you people act like cornmeal is the solution to everything, its not. i agree fungicides are the most horrible thing invented, but honestly, promote good management practices and quit crowing about nonsense like cornmeal.

Oh yeah, and welcome aboard. Ah like yo sense of humor. I too like a hit of fungie once in a while, it do the plant bod good and sure is alot easier to spred.
If I may, the organic neurosis is likened to a cult if you will. Doesn’t mean organic doesn’t have its place, but so does my buds, Monsanto and crew.
It’s all in The Balance.

WOW! First day and already I have pissed someone off. Don’t take it so personally, Qwerty. It was just a joke.
I am a fan of natural remedies and am an environmentalist in all things (not just lawn care), but natural remedies aren’t always enough. Pesticides and Fungicides, when used properly and carefully, have their place and can be invaluable.
If you have Strep Throat, a cup of Chamomile tea ain’t gonna cut it. Not even a gallon will cure.

qwerty, you’re right. i shouldn’t be a turfmaster. i’m way above that. you lawn guys arent anything but a bunch of cockroaches. to that, i’ll put my knowledge of horticulture against your’s anyday. IPM includes both organic and chemical treatments, and many many other aspects, most of which you obviously know nothing about.
I almost forgot Do Not over water. Floratan /Seville all strains of St. Augustine are suseptible to fungus from over…
I am from the north and it has taken me five yrs to learn and undertand seville lawns. No 1…
