New Fescue Sod, a little concerned

I just put down fescue sod in my yard and have been watering it about an hour a day. I am in GA and we have about 80 degree weather right now. The sod is turning grey and brown, I am afraid it is dying. I am afraid to water it too much, sometime it is sitting in puddles of water after the hour so I don’t water it anymore that day. Am I not watering enough? Please and advice would be greatly appreciated! I haven’t fertilized it yet either, I was told not to because we aren’t sure when the sod farm last fertilized. Would you recommend fertilizing or no?Thank you!

Hold back on the watering. Water it for 30 mins a day. To much water is just as bad as not enough.

sounds like you have multiple issues. what we don’t know is the size of your lawn! one hour on a three acree lawn won’t be enough and 1 hour on a 1000 sq. ft. lawn might not be enough. HOw fresh was the sod when you installed it? Why are you installing sod this time of year? Is it a new home where you needed grass immediately? YOu fertilize fescue heavy in the fall not in the spring, so whatever you do needs to be light. YOu also are right around the corner from disease season, so how you water your lawn is very important at this point. Post back with more info.
