Need help with weed ID

Need some help with weed (and grass) ID. I took a ton of pictures so I put the info together in the form of a webpage:

I am trying to figure out what kind of weeds these are and how to kill them without killing my grass. I am not sure of what type of grass this is either. I am located in southeast Georgia. I have a sprinkler system pulling out of a freshwater lake that runs for about 8-10 minutes twice a day. Any help is much appreciated.

Wow! Twice a day!!! I hope you take my suggestions.

First of all, your grass is St Augustine. The weeds are dandelions and something else. If those are your only weeds, get a WeedHound at Wal*Mart, Target, Sears, or anywhere. They literally everywhere this year. But most important is that you get a much better control of your watering or you will have major problems with droughts and with fungus disease. Here are the commonly accepted three steps to having a great lawn.

1. Water deeply and infrequently. Deeply means at least an hour in every zone, all at once. Infrequently means monthly during the cool months and no more than weekly during the hottest part of summer. If your grass looks dry before the month/week is up, water longer next time. Deep watering grows deep, drought resistant roots. Infrequent watering allows the top layer of soil to dry completely which kills off many shallow rooted weeds. Never, never, NEVER water every day for 5 minutes at a time. That is a recipe for weeds and disease problems.

2. Mow at the highest setting on your mower. Most grasses are the most dense when mowed tall. Bermuda, centipede, and bent grasses are the most dense when mowed at the lowest setting on your mower. Dense grass shades out weeds and uses less water when tall. Dense grass feeds the deep roots you’re developing in 1 above.

3. Fertilize regularly. I fertilize 4 times per year using organic fertilizer. Which fertilizer you use is much less imporant than numbers 1 and 2 above.

good weed id, but up north you wouldn’t use atrazine, you would use 24d
