Mowing Compadre Zoysia

I just moved into a new house where the yard was sodded with compadre zoysia grass. My yard is on a slope with some hills in it. I have a John Deere riding mower that did okay on the first mow but I have to keep the blade at about 3″ to avoid scalping (still scalped). I am debating on buying a Tru Cut 27″ gas powered reel mower but I am not sure about its ability to deal with hills and uneveness in my yard right now. Any suggestions or comments are welcome. I would also have a roller attachment on the reel mower.
