I just moved to Florida and my yard looks terrible. What is the best way to get it back to green and to be able to walk on it barefootted (no fireants)?

If I could turn lawns green yours would be the second one I’d worked on. I moved to NW Florida 26+ years ago and have been trying to grow grass ever since. “Up north”, even in the heavy clay of central Ohio, I’d through out some seed, add a little water and green grass would grow. Not here! Best advice is to get local help. Find your county extension office(http://hort.ufl.edu/mg/countyagent.htm) and have them guide you
You can also read how turf should respond to proper treatment in the Florida Lawn Handbook at http://edis.ifas.ufl.edu/MENU_LH:LHLAWN If you decide to buy a hard copy of this volume look in the fiction section at your local bookstore.
