Is zoysia my solution

I’m a total newbie to serious lawn care so please bear with me. I live in Kansas City and have a real problem spot in my yard. It’s on the north side of the house under a large sycamore tree on a short hillside. The tree shades it from sun almost all day until late afternoon. Thanks to the hill a fair amount of water drains through this area during and after rainstorms. I don’t seem to be able to get ANYTHING to grow there except a few select weeds. It’s a big ugly patch of bare dirt. Is zoysia hardy enough to make a go of it in this spot? I lead a fairly busy life so there is not a lot of time to pamper the lawn. Also, thanks to the hill and the bare dirt I am beginning to get an erosion problem in the “spot.” If zoysia is not the ticket, is there some other specie someone could suggest?
