hydroseeding vs sod

I am in the Atlanta area (Newnan) and I am in need of a new bermuda yard. I have around a 15 pallet job. Estimates are around 2K for hydro vs 3.2K for sod. These prices include a good bit of prepwork. I have no experience with any type of start up method so I am looking for opinions. Is sod worth the extra 1200? Sod would be T419 but I am not sure what the seed variety would be. I have an irrigation system so would seeding be an option? Thanks in advance.

Just think back to the old saying that “you get what you pay for”. In other words, sod it.

I live in Southwest Florida and I hydroseeded with Princess 77 Bermuda for less than $900. Did it three weeks ago, and its looking great. I saved over $4000, as I was going to sod with Floratam. Great decision.

Unfortunately I contracted with a terrible contractor. Prep work was terrible and now I have a bumpy and wavy yard where water stands in several places. You do get what you pay for!!!!

Hey bigboyboo,
You obviously haven’t been reading much on this site or you would know that seeds don’t work worth a crap. You may think it looks great, but I’m sorry to inform you that you’re mistaken 🙂
