I am sure you know all the good that earthworms do. However, they can be a putting green nuisance. There are two things that I know of to take out earthworms. The first is to wait until a really good storm and while they are on top of the soil, fertilize. This will burn the little pests. The other is Nemacure. Very bad stuff. not labeled for earthworms (nothing is), but will kill anything living (other than turf). Check local laws to see the rules and regs on Nemacure. AND FOLLOW ALL THE PRECAUTIONS!!! This is the one chemical used in the golf industry that can kill on contact……THE APPLICATOR!!!
Live with them, I Say………………..

A friend of mine is using an organic program on one of the three golf courses he keeps in Canada. On the greens where he applied corn meal, the earthworms came on like gangbusters at first and have now disappeared. The greens where he did not use the corn meal he still has worms. There has been no other fertilizer used anywhere for 70 years except on the corn meal greens.
The theory we’re working on is that the corn meal softened the soil enough that the worms have moved much deeper in the soil and do not surface any more. Another theory is that the coarse corn chops he used attracted so many birds that they ate the worms while they were there plucking out the corn.
