green fast moving catepillar destroying my lawn?

For a little over a month and a half I’ve been experiencing thinning and brown patches growing ever larger in my new 4 month old yard. Blades of dead grass have been blown atop the still yet neighboring green grass by our local trade winds. Have the Bermuda Triangle type grass. This afternoon while probing into the brown area I noticed a fast moving one inch long green caterpillar diving for cover deep into the grass.
I’m thinking that this catepillar is the culprit of the brown patches. No amount of watering or fertilizing has changed anything Matter of fact, it’s getting worse! Can anyone point me towards the fastest way to get rid of this pest……please!!!!!! I live here in Hawaii on the island of Molokai…few miles away from the island of Maui & Oahu. Thanks in advance.
