Grass not growing; Help!!!

My wife and I planted some grass seed specifically for the area of Saucier, Mississippi. The manufacturer stated that this was a hybrid grass, grows well for this area and is very drought tolerant. I followed the directions and tilled the ground to a depth of six inches and spread the seed. I then raked over and immediately watered the area. It has been two weeks now and not one sprout has popped up. My water bill is out of control, I have to keep it moist, Right?
