Floratam or Palmetto

I live in South Florida and need to sod my lawn. Is Floratam or Palmetto better? My soil is sandy, if that matters. Any information would be helpful. It will not be cheap, so the sod with the best chance of long time survival is best. But of course I want it to be beautiful too.

It all depends on whether you are planting the sod in the full sun or shade to partial shade. Floratam requires full sun for a thick healthy competitive stand. If shade can be expected for any part of the day I would recommend St. Augustine Classic also known as Bitter Blues years ago. I am not a fan of palmetto for shaded areas although it does do very well in full sun.
