Fertilize Bermuda in GA

I live in Paulding County, GA (NW of Atlanta) and have hybrid bermudagrass. The soil is mostly clay. I sent a soil analysis to the county extension agent and have received the results. I was wondering when I can apply my first round of fertililzer? I want the grass to be able to use all the fertilizer, but don’t want to do it too early. I would say about 40% of the yard has greened up. I’m applying 16-4-8 at 8# per 1k square feet. I’m also going to apply 15# of lime to the yard (per 1k sq feet), per the analysis results. Finally, because temps are still low, fungus should not be a problem, and I can safely water at night (for now)??? Thanks for your help.

hit it now! you’re a smart guy, with all the soil tests and the fertilizer calculations you’ve done. believe you’ll be in good shape, you’re a long way off fungus season for your bermuda, go ahead and water. what did your soil tests say regarding all of the other nutrients?-typically the co-op soil tests aren’t specifically geared toward turf, in my experience.

Thanks Ted. The results are (soil test index):29#/acre – Phosphorous (Medium)91#/acre – Potassium (Low)1025#/acre – Calcium (Medium)192#/acre – Magnesium (High)2#/acre – Zinc14#/acre – Manganesemy pH was 5.9I’m assuming that the soil test index is my results, and not the benchmark.The analysis was done at UGA, so its probably safe to assume some they are not 100% accurate. I should have sent them to Auburn. War Eagle!
