Emerald vs. Meyer Zoysia in Central NC
RegularExpression – posted 05 January 2005 14:44
I have a lawn that receives almost full sun. Half of it has what I believe to be Meyer Zoysia. It was ordered years ago from an ad in an insert in the Sunday paper(the commercial name Amazoy seems to ring a bell) and is fully established and doing well. I am converting the other half of the lawn(about 1000 square feet) from a garden into lawn.
My questions:1) Can anyone confirm Meyer Zoysia is what was/is generally sold through the Sunday insert advertisements? 2) If I do have Meyer should I stay with Meyer when converting the garden or could I plant Emerald and let the two grasses fight it out for lawn supremecy? Are the textures and colors different enough that it would be obvious?3) I planted annual rye in the fall to hold the soil in the garden. Should I till this under or can I put my zoysia plugs in and count on the rye dying soon enough?4) Recommendations on good places to deal with when ordering, either online or local to central NC.
