Cover for planting Zoysia

First im going to try to establish a lawn with SEED. Has anyone done this? Second, what is a good cover for seed? Also inexpensive? Any other help is welcome. thanks

as far as i’ve heard, hey is the best cover for seed (against rain, wind, birds) & you don’t have to remove it later.

Hay works. When they hydro-seed they incoporate paper with the seed so you can probably use shredded paper (just keep it wet).
I almost forgot Do Not over water. Floratan /Seville all strains of St. Augustine are suseptible to fungus from over…
