Championship Bermuda (ultra-dwarf)

I have heard that Ultra-dwarf Bermuda strains do not need to be over seeded during the winter time(pending upon climate I live in tampa florida area) is this true? I have heard that by laying rye down over these dwarf strains, eventually it will suffocate the Bermuda underneath.

I personally would never overseed ultra-dwarf. Topdress yes, overseed no.
