i came across info a while back about fertilizing to keep bermuda from going dormant. anyone have info on this?

Where do you live? Pushing bermuda in the transition zone and up north by fertilization into the first frost is dangerous. Water soluble nitrogen fertilizers are used at the last growing month to make sure the N has bled out before the frost. You best bet for year round green is overseeding during the winter months.

I assume you mean winter dormancy.

I agree with greenman. I would not fertlize with high N in the fall. Use something with a high K to hardy up the root system for a nice spring green up.

There are only a couple hybrid varieties of bermuda that will retain good color throughout the year, and only in the right climate. A good rule of thumb with bermuda is, if it regularly reaches 32f or below in your area (which is virtually the entire continental US), don’t bother. You’ll only end up damaging your lawn.

Just overseed with an annual ryegrass for year-round green.
