Brown Centipede

I am having a couple of problems with my Centipede this year. Last year I used Scott’s Bonus S for Centipede and my lawn did very well. I didn’t have any weeds and it was very green and very rather quickly. This year although it just turned green a few weeks ago, it is still has a lot of brown underneath and a large brown spot. I also have a lot of weeds in it. I don’t want to fertilize again because I’m afraid it will kill it. What part of it is green seems to be growing well. I have tried watering it and I doesn’t seem to help get rid of the brown. Is there something I can do to help with the brown and get rid of the weeds?

Dear Planter,
We seem to be having a ton of problems this month (April 2002) with centipedegrass showing brown spots.
See this comments about centipedegrass decline, which might be your problem:https://turfgrass.com/ubb/Forum13/HTML/000028.html
