best grass for new yard?

I recently purchased a new home in rural central Texas. I have sandy red clay soil that will receive plenty of sunlight. There are lots of weeds and the naturally occuring grasses. I really like the look of St. Augustine, but was also considering Bermuda. I was wondering which grass is best and how to prepare the soil?

I would use concrete, last a long time. If it gets stained you can paint over it in many diffrent colors. If weeds do come up in cracks a bottle of round up will last all year long and you don’t have to worry about killing anything else around the weeds. You avoid spending money on fertilizer and the time it takes to put it down along with not having to cut it each week. You don’t have to worry about how much water it needs or why it is turning brown in one spot. You don’t have to worry why one side of the yard is lush and growing well and the other is taking for ever. Best thing about concrete is when your friends come over they can park on it with out any damage from their cars sitting on it.
If you like St Aug, go with it. Just read up on it and if you want that perfect lawn you must take care of it.

Funny, but no help. I pour concrete & it would cost about $30,000 to cover my yard. Not looking to spend that much.

soil test your lawn to see what nutrients are missing, if any. then pick your grass type, either grass should perform well, but i would lean toward the bermuda. sod it, of course.
