Bermuda vs Fescue

I live in Athens, Georgia and have an existing fescue lawn. I want to switch over to bermuda. If I put 3 inch bermuda plugs spaced 12 inches apart over the entire lawn will the bermuda eventually overtake the entire lawn. Will it suffocate the fescue out completely and if so how long will it take?

If the fescue is healthy I would take a long time, that is my opnion but other people will have a diffrent opnion

In your climent it is possable, but your best bet is to kill off the Feswcue and do a lawn renovation with Bermuda seed.

How long is a long time? Are we talking months or years? Thanks for your input!

(cheapest way out)
just wait. keep feeding the bermuda. all summer and fall. when it goes dormant in the winter round up the stray fescue… i would continue to put winterizing fertilizer down to help the roots spread during the winter months.. you should have a healthier lawn next spring
I almost forgot Do Not over water. Floratan /Seville all strains of St. Augustine are suseptible to fungus from over…
I am from the north and it has taken me five yrs to learn and undertand seville lawns. No 1…
