Bermuda, or What??

I live in Ohio, and I have a low growing, creeping grass that has runners up to 3 feet in length that seem to originate from a single rooted seed. It is growing all over my fescue/blugrass/ryegrass yard in large patches. I’ve been doing some investigating on the net, and the best picture I can find is that of Bermudagrass. The seed head looks identical, but I’m not sure of its growth pattern (long runners?). I thought that this grass was a more southern grass. This is a very troublesome grass that is becomming embarassing in my yard. I mow at 2.5 inches. Can I mow higher to control it? My neighbor mows his yard 1X/month and he dosen’t seem to have any……….yet his yard grows tall and heads out….not what I want to do either. Can anyone help me try to identify and rectify my issue. I hope I’m not another Bermudagrass victim.
