Bermuda Brown under Tree
SteveO – posted 20 April 2002 08:04
My bermuda in my front yard is constantly brown and does not seem like it wants to grow full underneath a Bradford Pear tree. It seems to me that the grass gets decent sun in the afternoon due to the angle of the sun. Is there anything I can do to get the grass to perk up?
Thanks in advance.

I’m fighting the same battle. It’s a losing one because Bermuda just doesn’t tolerate any shade. I’ve replaced the section with more Bermuda just to have it die off again. I’m now going to try replacing it with Emerald Zoysia and hope it blends well.

In Ga many bradford pears have got fire blight. Check the new growth of your tree and see if it looks like it has been burnt by a lighter. How much sunlight do you have under your tree?
