Armyworms

I live in the metro Memphis, TN area and have had armyworms in my yard the last 3 years (when I built the house). They seem to appear late in the summer. Is there anything that I can do now or early summer to keep them from coming back? Both of my neighbors get them too. One of them generally buys a chemical at the local co-op and sprays our yards to kill the worms (but I have never asked what is was and he has since moved away). Anybody have any ideas what it was he might have used?

Any of the pyrethroids will knock the snot out of armyworms. You have a lot of options here. Bifenthrin will work well for you. Find a Lesco service center and call them…they have pretty much everything you can imagine for such issues.
