Alrighty, I am gonna spend my afternoon buzzing it down in afood processor. How much area do you think 50lb will cover?

ThanksJ

I think it gives me 3-400sqft.

300 to 400 sf? I thought a 50 pound bag would cover 3000 to 4000sf????

Depends how much you put down I guess. There’s no limit so I put it pretty heavy without smothering it.

I found a coffee grinder on ebay for $30 that does a good job grinding alfalfa down to put in a spreader. I even took the crank handle off & put a bolt on it so i can grind it with my cordless drill.

You could buy alfalfa for rabbits instead of horses. Same thing but smaller. It usually costs a little more though.

I found some much smaller but longer alfalfa pellets last week. They still don’t go through the spreader but they definately spread out much better. Less clumping after the rain in my opinion.

I use alfalfa pellets for rabbits. It’s small enough to use a broadcast spreader with no problems.
