Zoysia vs bermuda

Thanks to a prior owner my yard is 40% bermuda, 25% Zoysia, 10% bluegrass and 25% dirt. I would like the zoysia to take over the yard. Will it crowd out the bermuda? What can I do to help it out?

no it won’t. zoysia is slow growing- roundup the bermuda and resod with zoysia, if that’s what you want- unusual mix of grasses- where do you live?

SE Missouri. With watering bluegrass grows well and the warm season is longer enough to make zoysia or bermuda pratical.

yeah, i figured in the transition zone somewhere- there’s a good company in cape girardeau, if it’s close it’s called accugrow

My El Toro Zoysia would smother anything. It’s so aggressive I can’t keep it out of my flower beds. It will definitly choke out your bermuda. At least it does my neighbors. It’s extremely thick. I use organic dry fertilizers and nematodes to control grubs. But I don’t recommend it if you like anything else in your yard.

it’s a long way from texas to missouri….zoysia is particularly slow growing in cooler climates. fescue is probably mr. missouri’s best choice.
