what to plant?

I live near a lake and my whole front yard is nothing but red dirt. This is my first home away from my parents and i am clueless.what type of grass can i plant that will grow on the red dirt? when it rains it sucks up all of the water and when it is sunny it looks like a desert in my front yard please help!!!

Ahhh Lufkin… I went to SFA in Nacogdoches. Nothing but pine trees! Good old days… easy life in Nac, that’s for sure!
