what grass should I choose

I live in Fort Worth , Texas. I have bermuda grass in my lawn that was sodded about 3 years ago from the previous owner. It is doing ok. However, I just hate the looks of bermuda. My question is this. What grass can I plug in my yard that can take over bermuda that is better looking????I really like zoysia, but I think because of the slow growth that bermuda would win. I have read that St. Augustine could do it, however I am scared about the SAD virus I keep reading about. I really just want a good grass that is not this bermuda. Please help. Also I do not want to have to spray round up to kill the bermuda. I am wanting to do this one section at a time in my yard. I have all the time in world, but I am really just looking for something that can be plugged with the existing bermuda, but take it over. My trees are not mature yet, but I did plant alot of them that are going to provide shade eventually

Not many grasses are going to out compete Bermuda. So if you plug them in expect to have a mixed yard until you retire and sell it and the new owner kills all of if with round up.
Every grass has its problems. If you really want to try something new, and have lots of time on your hand you might plugging in Sea Spray or Sea Isle supreme paspalum. Once it has a good growth then start using salt water (ocean water concentration). In theory this should S..L..O..W..L..Y kill the bermuda and let the paspalum take over.
If you use St Augustine then you can spray with atrazine. However it is going to be a long and frustrating battle.
Best bet is Roundup or similar (twice about 2 weeks apart) then re do the lawn.
I almost forgot Do Not over water. Floratan /Seville all strains of St. Augustine are suseptible to fungus from over…
I am from the north and it has taken me five yrs to learn and undertand seville lawns. No 1…
