Weeds

I have St. Augustine in 75% of my lawn and the rest is centipede. I live in north Florida. I have been spreading Scotts “Bonus S”, with atrazine to control the dollar weeds. I would like to know if there is a product, in granular form, that will kill the weeds without having to fertilize. Can Atrazine be purchased in granular form. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks, Ed

I’m not expert, but I know you can buy atrazine in liquid and that it is ‘recommended” by UF for dollar weed. They also indicate that a mixture of atrizine and bentazon (sold as Prompt) is better. Generally speaking dollarweed is an indication of over watering as it is an acquatic plant. Shifting to an as needed watering cycle ~ 3/4 to 1 inch of water a week should help control the pest Apply herbicied per instruction on label and be careful not to wash it off by watering. Although the liquid atrizine lable says you can water after a day I found it was only effective if I held of the water for a few days. I live in NW Florida and the last couple of days have been rather warm. Need to apply when it is going to be 85 Degrees or cooler or you’ll risk damaging the turfgrasses.Good Luck!
