Really? Pull them by hand. They are definately not growing fast with this cold weather. They’ll freeze to death in a month

I have the same problem with winter type weeds. One web site says use this , and another says don’t. I have been pulling them out, but it sure would be faster if something can be sprayed?

These weeds showed up in the last month or two in the area I sprigged last summer . The area is not filled in yet. Next year I think it will be.

I use Ortho Weed B Gone Max with Crabgrass Controll. I get good results. Some weeds need sprayed a couple of times. Hardy weeds can take two to three weeks to die.

I ended up using a Bayer hose spray product. It was marked safe for Zoysia and worked. It was pretty strong stuff, some got on one of my Crept Myrtles by accident and wilted some new growth on it. But it did not kill it. I’m also using 2 4 D at times and it does a good job too, I’m mixing it weak, by the directions they provide. Found out you need to wait two or three weeks in the spring and not spray it when grass is sprouting out new in the Spring, wait a fews weeks..

I have a beautiful stand of grass in this first area planted now. Covered the ground from May to the next June the following season. Still has some bumpy looking spots in it, but the ground is 99% covered. Next year it should all be the same height all over. Very Proud of it. And I have two more large areas started…

New to the burbs and grass. Have a lawn that is trying to become a zoysia. I think it is coming from my neighbor. The problem is there are tons of weeds. Prob more than grass is areas. Can I use plugs in the middle of a weed patch. Will it establish itself? Or should I get rid of lawn and start over? Can weed killer get rid of such an infestation? Thanks.

Start off with a clean area. Get rid of any other grasses. Plant in early spring. Plant when Zoysia is starting to grow. The sooner in the spring the better.

I find hand sprigging to work best for me. I got a plugger, but found it to be a hazzle to remove plugs. And also hard to punch into the turf. I break the turf apart and plant the sprigs in broken rows, 8 or ten inches apart. But plant before the end of May, in North Carolina.
