I have heard that this zoysia grass is a good low maintenance grass. I live about 30 miles east of Cincinnati, and was wondering what type would be the best of my area. I have heard that Amazoy zoysia is pretty good but it don’t green up till the temp gets 70 or above and that it browns really early in the fall. Can anyone give direction for my area I live in.
Thanks,Kevin

All Zoysia types are going to brown out early -in your area. Your just too far north to expect any different. For year around color, over seed Zoysia every fall with poa trivialis-a month before the first expected frost.

Thanks for the reply. My lawn has little to no shade on 5 acres. Used to be a big farm field and was divided into 8, 5 acre lots. What would be the quickest growing zoysia, what would be recommended?
Thanks,Kevin

Also I heard that Zenith Zoysia stays green a little longer than most and greens sooner in spring.

With that much area, you will have to go with a seeded type. Looks like ‘Zenith’.
