uneven lawn

Live in Miami and over the years, heavy flooding has made my backyard uneven. It is 6 inches lower in certain spots especially nearer to the back fence. What do you recommend to fill in these low areas where the top soil has washed away.thanks.

Are you prone to alot of flooding. Or was it just a few times over the past few years? There are some great erosion control products out there now, I don’t know if they would be apropriate thoough. How much area are we talking about?

I guess most of it happened a few years ago during the no name storm. Street in front of the house would become a lake and go straight to the back yard. Sewers have been repaired and they say it won’t happen again. The area is about 50 feet by 5 feet.

ok, so I guess your question is how much dirt to order? 50 X 5 X .50 = 125 cubic ft.125 / 27 = 4.2 cubic yardsHope it helps…

Man,… I love when someone can figure out how much soil they need. Good work fallon222!(but can you convert it tons, lol) Get the soil you need and prior to planting check the soil out with a soil test. Add what it is lacking from atleast a starter fertilizer. Then plant what the rest of your lawn is comprised, turf wise. You may want to put some soil stabilization product down if a slope is involved. If you resod, and slopes are involved, using sod staples will help. If you were talking about a larger area I was going to suggest that some regrading may be the way to go to avoid this situation in the future. I hope they really do have the problem fixed, hurricane season is coming……
Good Luck and hope this helps……
