type of grass for North Florida

I live in Panama City Florida in the panhandle about 1/4 mile from the gulf. I am landscaping a new lawn and would like a good grass other than Centipede because of mole cricket problem in the area. Part of the yard is shaded by pine trees with the rest open to direct afternoon sunlight. It can get very hot and dry in the summer months. What do you suggest.

Terry,
I also live in Panama City and I can assure you that from my experience the best performing turf grass here in the conditions that you are describing would be St. Augustine. If you are 1/4 of a mile from the Gulf, the I would assume you are on Panama City Beach somewhere. If you need some help, or want to see some St. Augustine lawns, I am willing to help you out.
Good luck.
