turf mixes with clover

Hello, I’m trying to find a source for a lawn seed mix that includes white clover (or other nitrogen-fixer) and one or more grass species that are drought-tolerant, and slow- or low-growing. Concept is lawn that partially feeds itself with nitrogen from clover, and requires less watering and mowing. I’ve found such mixes developed for north of Mason-Dixon line but cannot find any created for Florida, specifically Florida Panhandle. Any help is appreciated–want to be able to recommend this in the green design code for a small development.

I have used a lot of white (New Zealand) clover. I buy it separately, but my local garden center won’t have any more until Fall. You might try O’Connor’s Strawberry clover. It was advertised as a complete lawn in the Harmony catalog. They are at 1-800-869-3446 or www.gaiam.com. I would try it, but they say it might be too cold where I live. They are in Southern California so it should do well in Florida.

You can try this website for clover seed; they seem to have a good selection. Haven’t ordered anything from them yet, but they did answer an email question fairly quickly, usually a good sign.http://www.groworganic.comIn the site search area, type in clover. For the search area, pick whole site.Good luck.
