Tunneling Toad

I noticed a small hole near a drain block(concrete block under the drain spout).When I lifted it up, there was a hugehole–all the area beneath the block hadbeen escavated. A toad was sitting there.

It didn’t seem to be doing any damage, butI can’t figure out where all the dirt went.It’s not heavy enough to compress soil,and eating it wouldn’t do much–I’d guessit’d just come back out again. So, where’dit go?
