Ok, I have come to the conclusion that my soil is not holding enough water. I was wondering if top dressing can help with this and should I use Eiver sand and compost or to soil and compost? Should I start now or should I wait till summer ends. I have Jumur Zoysia and It it Struggling due to the drought..
ThanksJ

If the area is having problems retaining water then you’ll want to use compost and topsoil. Just make sure you use a leaf rake to get it down into the grass, don’t leave it on top or it will hurt it. Also, make sure you water down the area throughly when you are done.

I’m not really good with figuring that out. I honesstly can’t even tell you the total size of my yard. I ususally just try to eyeball it. The place I get my stuff from actually has topsoil that already has compost and fertilzer mixed into it which is great. You really only need about a 2-3 inch layer, so if you consider that you should be able to do the math.

That sounds about right but I have never heard of OPS so I can’t say for sure. It sounds similar to what I get which is a top soil that already has compost mixed into it. I would make sure it is top soil and not a planting soil which is much looser I believe.
