Tifway 419 Bermuda

Hello, new to the forum and hope to learn from the pro’s. Just put down 600 square feet of tifway 419 and need advice. Its raining lightly out here in California and hope it has no negative effect on the grass. I requested an over seed so that it would be green all year round. The only soil preping I did was to add compost and till 6 inches. Backyard soil was virgin, no prevoius grass or plant growth. My ultimate goal is to have a short as possible grass and hope to accomplish this with the right mower. These are the following questions I have
What type of mower do you recommend? When is the first mowing recommended? How much should I take off at each mow? What type of fertilizer do I use and should I apply anything now? When should I give up and switch to marathon?
It took me 4 years to get my backyard done and hope not to screw my bermuda. Like I said, just laid the tifway 419 sod yesterday. All advice and recommendations are greatly appreciated.
