This is what a little alfalfa does in Tampa soil

I cut a 2 foot square of turf out about a month ago and mixed some alfalfa pellets in with the soil and these are the results. I watered this lawn 2 days ago.

I haven’t tried to mix it directly into the soil, but I have spread some on top and those areas lok much better then the areas that I didn’t. The only problem is that if you top dress them like I did with the lack of rain, they sometimes tend not to get down into the soil all the way. I threw some down over a week ago and I still see some remeants on top.

I just bought about 4 bags of Black Kow and put it down in the areas that are struggling and in areas that are not even. I took some pics today and I’ll take some more in a couple weeks to see if there is any improvement.

I noticed the same. I have alfalfa floating in my graass right now. The sprinklers aren’t enough to push it down. If you’re in the tampa area take a look here for cheaper compost than black cow.
