Thinning Bahia (Centipede Overtaking)

I’ll admit that I have neglected my lawn for a while and now I the bahia is thinning and some areas are being overtaken by centipede, which I’d like to get rid of. I’m thinking that I will have to till the centipede up, spray Roundup, then re-seed the bahia (argentine). If so, how long do I wait to re-seed to allow the Roundup to dissipate?
For the thinning bahia, do I need to till it up and start over, or are there other steps I can take rather than tearing up the yard? I appreciate any advice you can offer. Thanks.
