Struggling with El Toro Zoysia

I sodded my lawn with El Toro Zoysia in late April (Central NC Area). Looked great for a few weeks but now has produced purple seed stalks everywhere that look like hops. It is also starting to get thin and brown in patches.

This was way too expensive to loose the grass. Any suggestions to get the sod to fill back in and green up? Also any thoughts on the Purple Seed Heads?
