Strange Grass

I have a strange grass appearing around my house it is like a couch, a bit thicker in leaf but it has a silky thread growing out of it like a spider web, it is now spreading and I am getting concerned. My lawn is mowed weekly and this thread appears again which hours of mowing. I hope someone can enlighten me and advise what to do.

From the description you give you might have (Pythium Blight) Pythium aphanidermatumI would take a sample to your county extension agent. He should be able to identify it for you. Let me know what it is. But for now do not mow when you can see the disease, do not apply more than 1/2 lb. nitrogen per 1000sq. ft. and improve your drainage.
