St Augustine problem

Sodded my lawn about four months ago with “palmetto”. Front lawn is partially shaded while the rear is almost completely shaded. The rear (shaded) lawn started to show some yellow areas about a month ago. now it is almost all yellow and getting very thin with small dead spot scattered through out. Leaves are yellow with brown spots. Was over wattering in the beggining but have now cut back on watering almost completely. Could it be SAD or fungi or what? Thank you.

I have a similar problem here in Tampa Fl. I planted some Palmetto in bare spots several months ago and it is dying out in the shady spots. I also have a lawn service( tru green chemlawn) who I asked about it problem. I really didn’t get a straight answer from them but they said we have had too much rain this year and its been overwatered. He also said that all sod is grown in full sun and now that its in a shady area coupled with the overwatering is probably stressing the lawn.( stressing me too)

Have you fertilized?

If you have fertilized and you can get a material called greensand, apply that at 40 pounds per 1,000 square feet. It is also called glauconite.

Oops! You’re in Georgia? Any chance you don’t have acidic soil? If you have a low pH, then the greensand won’t do anything. In that case Ironite might do something for you. Fertilize first if you haven’t already.
