St. Augustine Grass dying back

Good morning. I planted 9 palates of St. Augustine glass 7 weeks ago and the yard really looked great. Now, some of the most plush areas are thinning quickly. I had been watering about 2-3 times a week for about 30-45 minutes. I suspect that I cut the grass too low the second time I cut it, but you would think that that would affect the whole lawn and not just certain areas. I took a piece into a local store and the “guru” said that it simply had shallow roots, clean blades (no fungus) and to water it longer. Any other recomendations or insights? TIA Doug

how was it sodded? did you smooth out the soil first, and did you use a roller? proper sod/soil contact is important. also soil testing is crucial.i’m assuming you never had a good rooting of the sod.
