soft grass needed that tolerates dog and kid friendly

i live in maryland on about 1/3 acre… i believe i have fescue which i like because of its green color and soft blades… the PROBLEM is my dog (lab) lately has been burning the grass significantly… nothing of significance has changed with her diet but the grass just can not hold up to her urine levels anymore and i have dead/brown patches everywhere!!!
i was thinking about another type of grass but my kids like the grass SOFT and can not stand the broadleaf grasses which they say hurts their feet and is itchy!
any thoughts on a good Intermediary grass that will provide a good comprimise??? thanks.

There’s a product,(i think its called-‘green grass’) sold at pet stores- which is a supplement you give your dog……and it changes the chemical nature of the urine so that it won’t burn the grass. As for the spots already burned, you might want to try one of those products,(such as Scotts ‘patchmaster’) that has seed, mulch and fertilizer mixed together…..all you do is rake out some of the dead grass, spread the patch mix and keep it wet until the seed germinates. Just make sure you read the label and make sure the seed in the patchmaster is fescue. Some of the patchmaster formula’s are bluegrass, ryegrass, etc.
