sod turning brown

I laid new sod in my backyard approx. weeks ago. For the first 3 weeks it got at least an inch of water a day and everything looked good. Went on vacation for a week and family memeber tried to keep up with the watering but missed a day here and there plus the weather was 95+ each day. When I returned I have big brown spots (4 foot patches). Tried to water heavely again but not helping much. Any ideas of what I can do to resolve this?

Help us out a bit. What type of grass, size of lawn and where are you located?
