Seville vs. cheap contractor grass

Established lawn, about .5 acre, mostly a cheap, thin, not very vigourous St. Aug. I patched a few areas with some Seville ST. Aug. Its quite superior in grain, color, thickness, etc. Could I plug the rest of the yard with Seville, and would it ultimately “take over” the yard? What time of year is good for plugging? I’m in C. Florida. Thanks

Seville is an excellent choice! Spring is the best time to plug, because it gives the longest period of fill in time before cool weather comes in. However there is still quite a bit of warm weather left in your area, and any plugs put in now, will show some growth and coverage- and will have a good head start in which to really take off in the spring. Fertilize often during warm weather( every 6 weeks), but do not fertilize after mid Oct. First fertilizing in the spring will be mid March. After you have full coverage, reduce fertilizing to twice a year (spring and fall)

Thank you! So do ya think it will “overtake” the cheap, thin St. Aug. I have now?

Yes, eventually the less dense grass will be taken over.

What are you thoughts on laying sod in late september/october?
Seems it may have some time where its warm but not scorching?
Will it be able to root in this time of year?
I have alot of shadey areas- which St. Aug variety would be my best choice?
