sandy disaster

Hi everyone. I had my shady back yard leveled, and it looks to me like any grass tha I did have will not grow over the huge amounts of sand these people put on…seriously, it looks libe a sandy beach. i think I might need new sod, something that might do good in shady areas…the guy that drowned my back yard in sand says it’s okay to just lay it on top of it….any suggestions?
