Re-Sodding After CinchBugs

I’m in Orlando, FL and have a very small yard. About half of that small area is gone. I’m pretty sure it’s because of Cinch Bugs, but I will be doing a test to make sure. I put down pest (cinch bug) killer (granular) a few weeks ago, but it rained a lot afterwards and I’m not sure if it was effective. I am going to tear up the half of my yard that is dead and re-sod. I am going to hit the yard with some liquid pest killer first then tear it up and re-sod a couple weeks later. Is this a good plan?
After re-sodding, what fertilizer should I use to get things going properly?
Thank you!

None at all. Typically sod right from the farm is already full of fertilizer. Secondly, over-fertlizing makes it all the more attractive to those pests that would eat it, particularly the piercing/sucking brand such as chinch bugs.

thin layer of compost and 20lbs of corn meal will do wonders to combat harmful fungus damage due to frequent watering first month…

Usually if you rake all of the dead grass out to the dirt(pain in the butt), St. Augustine is pretty good about filling back in. Esp. if you put down heavy fert with lots of potassium, but lower nitrogen. We use 5-10-31 (sometimes with light a mix of 21-0-0) on our damaged S.A. yards here in Ft Worth and have seen some amazing turn arounds.
